living

 Open plan living space

There's a large open plan living space on the ground floor of the chalet. The four sets of sliding doors flood the space with natural light. One section of the room is given over to two mid-century modern styled oak dining tables. The copper-coloured inners of the lampshades give a warm atmospheric glow at dinner. Two contemporary sofas and two 1950s classic fireside chairs mean plenty of space for lounging (snoozing) with a book, or chatting with friends. Choose a book from the library and settle down for a good read.  If you haven't finished a book by the time you leave, take it with you, and pass it on to a charity shop when you're done. The ukulele, guitar and bodhrán are there to be played. Feel free to knock out some tunes.

Five comfy ensuite bedrooms

On the ground floor, there's a double bedroom well suited for anyone with reduced mobility. The en-suite is a wet-room, with level access floor.

Upstairs, there are four enormous ensuite bedrooms. Ceilings reach right up into the apex of the chalet roof, and have distinctive long dangling lampshades to make the most of the space.  Each room has access onto a balcony, with a beautiful view of either the mountains or the forest.  Three rooms are usually made up with king-size beds and one as a twin. But we have some flexibility to reconfigure that, if that works better for you. Each room has an additional single bed creating a family room perfect for little ones sharing with parents.

All the en-suites have a thermostatic-controlled shower (with a fixed head as well as a moveable shower head), wall-mounted WC, wash-hand basin, and a heated towel-rail.

cooking

Where cooking is a pleasure

We're passionate about real, good food, so creating a kitchen has been an absolute joy. It’s light and airy, with plenty of counter-top space, and plenty of storage in drawers underneath.

If you choose our self-catered option, you get all the mod-cons you’d expect: an induction hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. And a few you wouldn’t typically find in a vacation rental: Thermomix, Nutribullet, Magimix food processor, Kenwood mixer, slow-cooker, spiralizer, raclette & hot-rock machines, fondue sets, and a yoghurt maker. Not to mention the many different ways to make coffee. There’s a bean-to-cup machine, a traditional electric filter, as well as a Chemex drip (and swan neck kettle), and a range of different size french-presses.

relaxing

A garden with a view

The sliding doors from the open plan living space lead out onto the terrace. There's a long table, with plenty of space to enjoy dining al fresco. The terrace is sheltered by the large roof overhang, so its an ideal spot for lazy summer lunches. When the evening gets cooler, move over to the sheltered circular seating around the BBQ fire pit...  great for sausage-sizzlers, and then keeping cosy & warm as the embers die down.

The six-seater hot-tub is tucked to one side, between in between the chalet and the fire pit.

The rest of the garden is laid to lawn, bordered with shrub & flower beds. There's beautiful views of mountains in one direction, and the forest in the other.  Snooze in the hammock, deck chairs or inflatable laybag; or enjoy a game of giant jenga or kubb on the lawn.

The driveway is plenty big enough for five cars. If you're a motorcyclist or cyclist, we can arrange secure parking for your pride and joy in the garage. We know this is important, as we're bikers too (so if you're unlucky enough to have a problem with your stead while you're here, chances are we'll have the tools to help you fix it).
